Behind
the Ear (BTE) instruments are very reliable and offer great fitting
flexibility. These instruments sit comfortably behind the ear and
the amplified sound passes down a tube to a customized earmold which
fits in your ear. Because of their larger size, these hearing
instruments can accommodate larger batteries for longer life and larger
amplifiers for maximum amplification. |
In
the Ear (ITE) instruments are very popular and are smaller. These
instruments are custom-made and fit securely inside the ear. |
In
the Canal (ITC) instruments are also custom-made to fit the size and
shape of your ear canal. Because they are so small, inserting the
instrument and operating the controls requires good dexterity. |
Completely
in the Canal (CIC) micro-technology has encouraged many people to be
fitted with hearing instruments. These instruments fit deep inside
the ear canal and are so tiny that they are almost invisible when
inserted in the ear canal. |

Body-Worn
Aids were developed as one of the first miniaturized hearing aids.
The case, sized to be worn in a pocket or attached to a belt, contains
all of the electronics, the batteries, and the microphone. It is
connected by wires to an instrument around the ear. Body-Worn Aids
are the most powerful of all aids; however are far more obvious and
cumbersome to wear than the others available in this modern age of
electronics. |
